Thank you Macquarie

Mega fundraising challenge raises £50k. In October, our brilliant partners Macquarie Group raised a huge amount of money by hosting an ‘8 minute’ challenge as part of their annual Foundation Week event – and it even featured a cameo from our own Rugby World Cup champion.

Using Lawrence’s classic Number Eight position on the rugby field, the team at Macquarie were set a series of challenges for eight minutes in duration to raise money for us. This brilliant fundraising will go towards us continuing our interventions in schools across England and Wales and give young people a second chance at a first impression.

Throughout the week, the dedicated team at Macquarie got stuck into challenges such as cycling, running and walking to see how far they could travel in eight minutes. The week also featured support from our Founder Lawrence Dallaglio, as he joined Macquarie at the culmination of the week, which saw them raise an incredible final sum.

Lawrence said: “What Macquarie have done during their Foundation Week is nothing short of fantastic. They’ve shown real commitment and dedication to raising a huge amount of money for RugbyWorks. We’re really proud of our relationship with Macquarie as it allows us to continue to reach hundreds of young people who desperately need our support right now more than ever.”

Nicola Hetherington, one of our Trustees and Global Chief Risk Officer in Macquarie’s Asset Management business, added: “RugbyWorks has been a strategic charity partner of the Macquarie Foundation for five years and we have enjoyed a close relationship throughout this time, with many of our staff getting involved in various events and career days for the children it supports.

"RugbyWorks’ focus and support is needed now more than ever, which resonated strongly with our staff and as a result we raised over £50,000 in donations - with matched funding from Macquarie. We know these funds will make a material difference to the charity and the young people it supports.”
